The Department of Marketing in the School of Business has ten full-time faculty who are active researchers and engaged teachers. The Department Marketing faculty have publications in a wide selection of leading journals including the Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Product Innovation Management, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Public Policy and Marketing, Journal of Service Research, Journal of Advertising, Industrial Marketing Management, and Strategic Management Journal.

The Department of Marketing offers an undergraduate major in Marketing with concentrations in marketing communication and analytics, product and brand management, and general marketing. It also offers minors in marketing insights and in sales. The minor in sales is open to marketing students and students across the campus. At the graduate level, the department offers a Master of Science concentration in Marketing Management and a Master of Decision Analytics concentration in Marketing Analytics. Additionally, Marketing faculty teach in the MBA, Executive MBA, and Ph.D. in Business programs.

The Department also houses RVA Views, a research center that operates a participant panel available for surveys and interviews as well as an eye-tracking lab and the VCU Center for Professional Selling, which is central Virginia’s academic incubator for developing professional sales talent. These centers, often funded by corporate community partners, support our faculty in their research and teaching goals.

The School of Business at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) is fully accredited by the AACSB and is housed in a state-of-the-art facility, Snead Hall. Since its founding in 1937, the School of Business has built strong ties with the Richmond community and beyond. Offering 13 bachelor’s and 19 master’s degrees, as well as the Ph.D. in Business, we welcome nearly 4,000 students each year. Responsibilities: The Department of Marketing at Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond, Virginia, invites applicants for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank to start in August 2026. We are open to candidates at the Assistant Professor or advanced Assistant Professor rank with research interests in any area of marketing and teaching interest in marketing analytics/research or artificial intelligence.

The candidate will conduct scholarly research where the output of such research is published in high-caliber peer-reviewed journals; teach engaging courses in marketing analytics, marketing research, or artificial intelligence topics; advise students; and provide service to the department, school, university, and academic community.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must possess or be a candidate earning a Ph.D. in Marketing, Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration or focus in Marketing, or Ph.D. in a discipline related to marketing.
  • An established or emerging research agenda.
  • A demonstrated record or clear potential for high-quality scholarly research in marketing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with or earning a Ph.D. in Marketing or in Business Administration with a primary concentration/focus in Marketing.
  • An emerging or established research agenda and potential for scholarship that complements or expands existing expertise in the department.
  • Prior experience teaching marketing courses at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Candidates with teaching interest and/or experience in marketing analytics/research/Artificial Intelligence are highly desired.
